28 weeks!!

The weeks are starting to fly by now! I had my 28 wk check-up today and all was good...things are going so well in fact that the dr said not to come back for another 4 weeks! (Normally after 28 weeks you start having check-ups every 2 weeks, but I'm having a healthy pregnancy.) I only gained 1lb since last appt (but I had gained 8lbs last time...that was weird to me, but the nurse said it usually all balances out in the end.) I also had my 1hr glucose test (and iron test) today so I'll get a call if there's any bad news about that.

Last Saturday we registered at Babies R Us and then Target...it's always fun to look at baby stuff...well maybe that's more of a mommy thing :) I learned last time that all new things aren't necessary so I'm going to find some gently used things this time (crib, entertainer, swing, etc). Who would have known that little Robert would not enjoy a baby swing? We ended up selling it for half price and it was basically brand new, so I'm looking for those kind of deals for this baby! I'm starting to really try and clear out some room now as much as possible in our tiny home...March will be here before you know it and I want to be ready...last minute planning is too stressful!

We were in Key West for a few days about a couple weeks ago to visit my parents and let little Robert open his Christmas gifts from them so that's why I haven't written any updates until now. I guess that is about it. Hope everyone is enjoying the holidays! Here is my 27wk belly photo:

24 weeks ~ Happy Thanksgiving!!

I had my 24 wk appt on Monday and everything was good. I have to do the glucose test next month which is a standard blood test to check for gestational diabetes. Hopefully I pass!! I was at 138 when I carried Robert and borderline is 140, so that was a little scary for me...just need to watch my carb intake! Well that's it for now. People are really noticing my belly now and are somewhat surprised when I tell them I'm 24 wks...they think I'm further along, but my body likes to carry low and way out front. Helps prevent heartburn but makes it hard to find comfortable pants!

Next appt: 12/19/08 (1 day after our 4 yr wedding anniversary!)
Wt gain: 8 lbs! (14 total so far)
Baby's heartrate: 150's
Cravings: Just about anything!

Everything is still going well and my next appt is next Monday. It will be a regular 24 wk check-up. Can't wait for Thanksgiving!! I love the holidays! Lots of yummy food and cooler weather :)

21 weeks

Last Saturday we took a tour of the hospital where I will be delivering this baby...it is much closer than the one I delivered Robert at and I've heard they even have really good cafeteria food! We will be going to St. Joseph's Women's...it's very nice.

I am definitely noticing my growing belly lately, especially when I try to lay down or get up! It's not as easy any more!

I think it's funny that my belly looks smaller than it did at 20 wks but the last one was taken at the end of the day after I ate!! I took this one yesterday morning when my stomach was still pretty empty.

My sis-in-law Krystal took this cute one at 19 weeks...

Recent craving: Reese's Peanut Butter Cups, but isn't this a normal everyday craving?! Oh, and juice is always good for that constant thirstiness!

Next appt: Nov 24th

20 wk Ultrasound

It's another BOY!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And everything was measuring perfectly! Two hands, two feet, 10 fingers & toes, healthy heart, etc. And Daddy was right...he was the only one to guess it was a boy!! When the ultrasound tech placed the transducer on my stomach, I immediately saw it was a boy and it was a great surprise! I guess there isn't much truth to those old wives tales!

Approx Wt: 13 oz
Heart rate: 154 bpm

Profile

Waving hello!

And the tell-tale sign it's a boy!!

20 weeks!

Half way there!! Only 20 weeks to go! Here I am today, 10/25/06 and my belly is really popping out now! I can't believe how much it's grown just over the past week but I know that is due to the baby increasing in size quite dramatically during this trimester. Monday is the big day! I will post an update after the appointment and sonogram!

Recent craving: Crisp red grapes and plenty of water (or tea or juice)
Ultrasound countdown: Less than 2 days!

16 week appt

So I had my 16 week check up yesterday and everything was good - blood pressure normal, etc and I still haven't gained even 1 lb! The nurse said it was fine since I have had quite a bit of nausea this pregnancy and that it will catch up soon. The dr checked the baby's heartrate, which was in the 150s/160s. All pretty boring, but boring is GOOD in pregnancy! There are some new doctors this time that weren't there when I had Robert and I like them all so far. Next appointment is Oct 27th with Dr. Butler, who delivered Robert, and she is fabulous! It is so hard to get an appt with her so I am happy I get to see her - AND this is the big one with the ultrasound! As long as the baby "cooperates," we'll find out if we're having a boy or girl! I am counting down the weeks to this one :)

In the mean time, I am trying to stay busy getting a Halloween costume together for Robert - we're thinking Diego from Go Diego Go since it isn't too hot to wear and he loves the show. I also need to take another picture of my belly...it has grown quite a bit now that I'm in the second trimester. I'm starting to actually look "pregnant." I will post it as soon as I take it! Also, "big" Robert turned 30 this past week!

14 Weeks

14 weeks - Your baby, now as long as a lemon, weighs about 1 1/2 ounces. (Length: 3 1/2 inches, head to bottom.)

I had my appointment last Friday and it was a quick one. We listened to the heartbeat with the doppler and it was in the 160's! A lot of people say girls have higher heartrates and even the dr said she is guessing it's going to be a girl! My next checkup is in 2 weeks when I'll be 16 wks and then I'll be back on a regular schedule. I already made my ultrasound appointment for 20 weeks! It will be on October 27th and I can't wait! We'll know if we'll be decorating in pink or blue ;)

Craving of the Week

At 13 weeks my craving was Ritz crackers and medium cheddar cheese!

And today it was Reese's Peanut Butter Cups! They are the best!

Old Wives Tales

I really don't believe in these but I couldn't help it! I don't know where some people come up with these assumptions. Here are some of the old wives tales about pregnancy that tell whether you're having a boy or girl depending on your symptoms!

Your feet are not colder than they were before pregnancy. GIRL
You refuse to eat the heel of a loaf of bread. GIRL
You had morning sickness early in pregnancy. GIRL
You are not looking particularly good during pregnancy. GIRL
Your urine is a bright neon yellow color. BOY
You are craving sweets. GIRL
Your nose hasn't changed during pregnancy. GIRL
You have been craving fruits. GIRL
You must have orange juice every day. GIRL
You are not having headaches. GIRL

Some differences from my first are that I had much more nausea this time, although I also craved fruit like this time. I also thought I had that pregnancy glow the first time but definitely not now!! I am hoping I will "glow" soon, but so far all I've had is a bad complexion, which I did not have before getting pregnant! I have heard a bad complexion could be a boy (due to those male hormones) and also a girl (b/c the girl "steals" the mom's looks). It sounds so silly to me :) Oh and the Chinese gender predictor calendar says I will have a girl - it said boy when I had Robert...I'm sure it was just a coincidence! Ok now I'm getting nauseous...I thought it was over with but it is still lingering!

.....I had to add on that I just ran to the bathroom to throw up...yuck! I am telling you, that never happens to me, at least it never used to! And I'm 13 weeks...I thought all that was supposed to pass already!

Craving of the Week

This week I have been wanting Mint Chocolate Chip ice cream...so I bought some at the store tonight and ate a big bowl full! Last week I wanted to eat mashed potatoes (same when I was pregnant with Robert)...well I always want to eat mashed potatoes - they are one of my favorites! And a couple weeks ago I had to make ambrosia salad, yum! I might have to make a pumpkin pie soon too...Thanksgiving is much too long to wait! Soon I am going to look back at my pregnancy journal I had with lil Robert and compare it to this pregnancy b/c there have been some differences...it will be interesting to see if there is any truth to those old wives tales - it looks more like we are having a girl this time if they're true! I will write the comparison in an upcoming post and you can decide what you think and then vote in the poll (boy or girl) on the left side of this page!

Starting to grow...

Here's a pic I took of my belly last week at 10 weeks. My pants are getting too tight so I had to buy some maternity clothes already...and I'm only 11 weeks!

A Dream

I had a dream two nights ago that I had a baby BOY! I don't remember any of the details of the dream except that the baby was a boy. It is funny that I dreamed that since some people are telling me they think it is a girl this time. I have had more nausea this time than when I was pregnant with Robert, and then yesterday I threw up several times in a row out of nowhere...first time that's happened to me, and I couldn't stop! Eww! If you didn't know, they say you will have bad morning sickness when you are carrying a girl. I guess we will have to wait and see at my 20 week u/s!

2nd Appointment & Ultrasound

We went to our 2nd dr's appointment last Friday 8/15 and the ultrasound showed a healthy growing baby again, this time measuring 9 weeks and 3 days, so they are sticking with my original due date of March 13, 2009! The baby was moving around quite a bit...hard to imagine that since it's only 1 inch long! The heartrate was 176 bpm, which is normal...it is the highest at 9 to 10 weeks and then lowers and stabilizes around 140bpm for the rest of the pregnancy. Here is another picture! The head is on the right side and I think the baby is facing you, laying on its side. You may be able to see where the little arms and legs are if you're good at looking at ultrasounds. So right now I am 10 weeks with 30 to go! Next appt is the 2nd week of September.

It's a....baby!!

We had our first ultrasound last Friday 8/1 and we saw the baby and the heartbeat! It was fascinating to see it flutter in a tiny baby! The heartrate was 120bpm and the baby measured 6 weeks 5 days, so that makes the due date March 22, 2009. We are having another ultrasound done on 8/15 to see the growth after 2 weeks and will possibly get a different, more accurate date. Here is baby no. 2's first picture! I think you can see a smile...just kidding =)

At 7 weeks, the baby is the size of a blueberry!

My Belly at 7 weeks

In my PJ's this morning, I decided to take a beginning picture of my belly. I can already tell a difference...it is definitely true that things change much earlier than with your 1st! The baby is still so tiny but my ligaments and abs are already relaxing!

Robert is going to be a big brother!

On July 10th we found out we are expecting another baby in March 2009! If you are unaware, this is actually my 3rd pregnancy, as we lost our last baby at about 11 weeks this past April, but we are thrilled to be expecting again! Hope you enjoy our page!
